Antwerp Chr. Plantin, at the expense of the heirs of A. Bierckmann 2 January 1562 4to : [2]-331 (= 327)-[1] ff. (title underlaid, margin f. [1] repaired, some letters of title restored by hand, soiling, marg. dampstaining, scribblings). 17th-c. mottled calf, gilt orn. spine with raised bands, red sprinkled eges (rubbed, front joint split, corners bumped). Second variant (of 5) of the first edition of this four-language dictionary, first important dictionary published by Plantin who partly collected the Latin words. Kilianus or Kiel (1529-1607) made the French and Dutch translations and/or interpretations. A.o. sources, one of the main was the « Verborum Latinorum cum Graecis Gallicisque coniunctorum commentarii », dictionary in three languages of Guillaume Morel published in Paris in 1558. Morel took himself as sources for the Latin words and French translations, two dictionaries published by Robert Estienne and, for the Greek translations, the dictionary of Calepino.
